The State of Pastors

From the article: “…pastors from mainline denominations far more likely to consider quitting than those from non-mainline denominations (51% vs. 34%). Other significant differences arise among gender, with female pastors being far more likely than male pastors to have considered giving up full-time ministry, and ministry tenure.” This is an interesting article that analyzes a metric I have never considered before. I do not doubt that the strain of COVID contributed to these numbers. Many churches couldn’t figure out if they should even stay open during that time, and many people remember those decisions vividly. I also wonder what it will look like when more and more younger, fresh-out-of-seminary-liberal pastors take up roles that generally conservative older pastors held… Only time will tell.
