Vaccination & Misinformation

From people who were concerned with the “polarization and politicization” of science, remember this statement. In the name of scientific accuracy, this statement encourages your Christian brothers and sisters to correct your distrust of the the vaccine by applying the label “misinformation.” Does loving your neighbor really mean blind obedience to public health officials? The reaction to the COVID-19 situation has proved that many Christian leaders have little room in their church for dissidents. Their statement imagined a world where Christians could disagree on the application of public policy, but made no room someone who denied the “clear scientific evidence.” Does 1 Corinthians 13:6 only apply to government narratives? Perhaps a more robust understanding of the church’s relation to the state and to science would have united Christianity. Instead, leaders used COVID-19 to widen the divide between the church’s political factions.
